In October, the Cook County state's attorney subpoenaed e-mails, grades, and notes and recordings of witness interviews from students at the Medill School of Journalism who were investigating a 1978 homicide case for the school's Innocence Project. Medill is fighting the subpoenas. This afternoon, ASNE joined 17 other media organizations in filing an amicus brief in support of the school's position.
