Sunshine Week ends with big success

This year's celebration of open government and freedom of information, under the administration of ASNE and with support from the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, came to a successful closure Saturday, March 17. Hundreds of individuals and organizations participated and shared the sunshine everywhere. Thanks for all the support!

Although Sunshine Week 2018 has passed, we strongly encourage everyone to continue to fight for the public's right to information. Sunshine Week needs to be a year-round effort.

A special thanks to The Associated Press and the Associated Press Media Editors, as well as many editorial cartoonists and columnists, for providing valuable contents that led to strong coverage in print and online.
Also, we'd like to extend our appreciation for the generous sponsorship by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and The Gridiron Club and Foundation.

Sunshine Week is a national celebration of access to public information that ASNE launched in 2005 to coincide with the March 16 birthday of James Madison, the father of the U.S. Constitution and a key advocate of the Bill of Rights. Next year, the celebration will be March 10-16.
