Help us build public awareness about open government

Thanks to many organizations and individuals who have shared their plans to participate in Sunshine Week 2017, March 12-18. The list of participants, as well as the events calendar on the Sunshine Week website, is growing quickly. Continue to let us know how you and your organization are planning to promote a dialogue about the importance of open government and freedom of information.
If you're an editorial cartoonist or writer, please send a cartoon or column to sunshineweek@asne.org so we can feature your special content at sunshineweek.org and encourage others to publish during Sunshine Week.

In the coming weeks, we plan to share the Sunshine Week budget for this year's special story package currently being put together by major news organizations. All participants can use the material for free during March 12-18

Editorial cartoons and columns, as well as other resources, will be updated regularly in the Toolkit at sunshineweek.org. To see previous submissions, check out "The Vault."

Sunshine Week 2017 is made possible by an endowment from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and by a donation from The Gridiron Club and Foundation.

ASNE launched Sunshine Week in 2005 as a national initiative. Since 2012, ASNE has partnered with the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press to provide support for news organizations, libraries, universities, civic groups, nonprofits and others who want to promote open government and access to information.
