Please consider contacting your senators to let them know that you support the "FOIA Improvement Act," S 337, and that they should, as well. Let the public know why this bill matters to them. Write about it in your papers, on your websites and on social media (don't forget to use the hashtag #FixFOIAby50).

Did you know that you can help effect necessary improvements to the federal Freedom of Information Act? That's right. The "FOIA Improvement Act," S 337, might move to the Senate floor during Sunshine Week. Similar legislation (HB 653, the "FOIA Oversight and Implementation Act of 2015") has already passed the House. Although Senate approval of S 337 will not put the bill directly on the president's desk, it is a major step forward and would greatly enhance the prospects for this much-needed legislative reform of the Freedom of Information Act.
