Sunshine Week 2015 ends with success

Sunshine Week 2015, the 10th anniversary, ended successfully on Saturday, March 21, thanks to all your time and efforts!

This year's weeklong celebration of open government and freedom of information, under the administration of ASNE and its partner, the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, came to a successful closure Saturday, March 21. The 10th anniversary, Sunshine Week 2015 was by far the most impressive and fruitful year with not only the uncountable number of participants and their high-impact work, but also the constant social media buzz that shared the sunshine everywhere in the nation. Thanks for all your time and efforts!

For a comprehensive list of participants, check the participants page at sunshineweek.org in a couple of weeks. All of the Sunshine Week work will be compiled and updated continually. Send us PDFs or links directly to sunshineweek@asne.org to be listed on the page.

A special thanks to Eric Newton, senior adviser to the president of the Knight Foundation; The Associated Press; The McClatchy Company; USA TODAY; and Gannett Co., Inc., for providing valuable content that allowed strong package creations for print and online publications.

Also, a big shoutout to our generous sponsors, including the Knight Foundation, Bloomberg and the Gridiron Club and Foundation.

Launched in 2005, Sunshine Week is a national initiative to promote a dialogue about the importance of open government and freedom of information. Participants have included print, broadcast and digital media outlets; government officials at all levels; schools and universities; nonprofit and civic organizations; libraries and archivists; and individuals interested in the public's right to know.
