As the ASNE-APME conference in Chicago is approaching quickly, we'd like to continue our introductions to some of our generous sponsors. Meet the Robert R. McCormick Foundation, committed to fostering communities of educated, informed and engaged citizens. Here's what the McCormick Foundation would like to share with you on its journalism program:

McCormick Foundation's Journalism Program, which began in 1994, seeks to increase civic engagement by strengthening the quality of journalistic content, enabling audiences to become smarter news consumers and protecting press freedoms that promote government accountability.

The program aims to bolster a more informed citizenry by investing in quality news content and educating people -- especially students -- to better appreciate the importance of news. The program is also dedicated to protecting press freedoms that align with the Foundation-wide commitment to civic education, access to public information, watchdog journalism and good government.
