With blogging, live blogging, comments, photos and video, this year's ASNE convention will have more ways than ever for people to connect with the activities next week at the J.W. Marriott. The nexus of these efforts will be the unofficial ASNE NewsNow Ideas Summit blog, which will also feature coverage of the convention by students from American University, Howard University and the University of Maryland. Bloomberg News is hosting the free Wifi access that will make all of this possible.
ASNE will have more ways than ever for people to connect with the convention this year, which will be held on April 11-14 at the J.W. Marriott in Washington, D.C. With blogging, live blogging, comments, photos and video, we anticipate plenty of participation.
The nexus of these efforts will be the unofficial ASNE NewsNow Ideas Summit blog.
There are three distinct parts to the site:
- Live blogging from sessions using the CoveritLive application, which will integrate Twitter feeds using the #asne10 hashtag and longer posts from CoveritLive itself, which allows messages over 140 characters.
- A traditional blog written by attendees and students that follows the convention, its participants and the issues raised.
- Multimedia content posted on Flickr using the asne10 tag and content from the ASNE10 YouTube channel.
All ASNE convention attendees are invited to participate in this interactive smorgasbord. Those who can´t attend are urged to join the conversation by commenting on the blog.
If you will be attending and would like to participate, please contact Craig Branson, who can get you access to the sites. Let him know what you´d like to do.
Students from three leading universities will be contributing to coverage of ASNE10. Students from American University, Howard University and the University of Maryland will be walking the halls, talking to editors and others who will be attending the event, and posting their journalism to the blog.
None of this would have been possible without a generous sponsorship from Bloomberg, which allowed ASNE to provide free Wifi access in the Marriott for all convention participants. Wireless Internet will be available for the first time throughout the meeting room area of the hotel.
