Earlier this month ASNE Foundation announced that the Journalism for a New Age Endowment Campaign will effectively end Dec. 31, 2009, without reaching its goal of raising $6.25 million.

ASNE Foundation President Edward Seaton remarked, “It was unfortunate that this major fundraising endeavor, the first in ASNE Foundation's history, coincided with an unprecedented decline in ad revenues exacerbated by the national economic recession. Nevertheless the original purpose behind the campaign remains as strong as ever: to fortify resources for ASNE's leadership of American journalism, and maintain the independent voice of editors, now and into the future.”

ASNE leadership will continue to raise campaign funds throughout the year. The campaign goal is to raise $1.125 million in gifts and pledges by the end of the year to be eligible for $750,000 in Knight Foundation matching funds.

If you have not yet supported the campaign, please consider making a donation. A $150 gift will bring in another $100 in matching funds. Donors can also pledge an amount and pay the pledge over time. All pledges must be fully paid by October 2010.
