Sunshine Week shines through Saturday
Sunshine Week, which kicked off Sunday, keeps shining with hundreds of participants fighting for open government and the public's right to know. A quick Google search brings up uncountable Sunshine Week news entries from numerous media organizations around the nation. If you've been following the #SunshineWeek hashtag on social media, then you'll know what we mean by "uncountable."
A big thanks to organizations and individuals for producing, publishing and promoting strong coverage, as well as organizing and hosting various events, to promote the importance of access to information.
Please keep up the good work through the end of this week as Sunshine Week wraps up. The Toolkit features a special reporting package of stories, photos and a graphic, produced by ASNE, AP and APME, and tons of editorial cartoons and columns that anyone can use at no cost. Also, check out the recently launched Whistleblower Project, a collaboration between the Society of Professional Journalists and the Government Accountability Project, to inform journalists how they can safely work with whistleblowers. Read and listen to the stories of whistleblowers who have helped shed light on corruption, government waste and injustice, as well as the reporters who work with them.
