Get your breaking news coverage recognized by ASNE Breaking News Writing Award

If your organization has outstanding breaking news coverage, then consider submitting it to the Breaking News Writing category in the 2018 ASNE Awards by 11:59 p.m. EST Tuesday, Jan. 30.

Entries are judged for writing and substance in the coverage of a breaking news event within the first 24 hours of the event. Entries should include digital elements if they were an important part of the initial coverage. Descriptive power, strong literary style, depth and breadth of reporting, timeliness, completeness and perspective will be evaluated.

Last year, the Breaking News Writing Award went to the staff of the East Bay Times for their hustling, comprehensive and rapid-fire digital coverage of the Oakland warehouse fire that captured every available detail of this horrendous tragedy in the first 18 hours.

You or your organization can win the honor this year! Read more about specific rules for this category, and submit your work today.
