Participate in 2017 ASNE diversity survey

ASNE launched the 2017 Newsroom Employment Diversity Survey more committed than ever to helping news leaders advance the cause of diversity in staffing, as well as content and coverage. Please fill out the survey promptly and help us accurately measure the progress toward diversity in U.S. newsrooms. If your organization has not received the survey, then please email ASNE at diversityresearch@asne.org.

As ASNE President Mizell Stewart III wrote in his column, this year's diversity survey has added questions about best practices in coverage and community engagement to provide news leaders with actionable strategies for better reflecting community interests. We're also increasing efforts to reach digital-only news organizations and exploring ways to more deeply examine the challenges for news leaders across all platforms aiming to diversify their staffs. Read the entire column for more details

In partnership with Google, the diversity survey is conducted by Survey Director Adam Maksl, assistant professor of journalism at Indiana University Southeast, and a team at Florida International University, led by Yu Liu, assistant professor at the School of Communication + Journalism. The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation is the generous sponsor of this research.
