The weekend's outstanding programming was planned and organized by ASNE Stanford Conference Program Committee Chair Robyn Tomlin, managing editor of The Dallas Morning News, and APME Journalism Studies Chair Jim Simon, deputy managing editor of The Seattle Times. Here are just some of the sessions you don't want to miss!

What's new? What's next?
9:15 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17
We kick off the conference by laying out the landscape for how news organizations are reaching/engaging audiences now. What's working? What isn't? How can we do a better job of reaching diverse groups of people in our communities? What does the future have in store?

4:15 to 5:15 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17
The Earth is 10,000 years old. Vaccinations cause autism. Global warming isn't happening. Science would say otherwise to all of these, yet millions of Americans aren't believing what science has proved. Why? Experts discuss today's "war on science" and what journalists need to know about it.

8:30 to 9:15 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 18
Are there lessons for newsrooms from Silicon Valley's entrepreneurial culture? Listen to three John S. Knight Journalism Fellows tell the stories of their journalism startup experiences in Silicon Valley.

11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18
Digital Showcase features innovative startups, organizations and individuals providing research, consulting, software and other services to transform newsrooms through digital storytelling, culture change and audience engagement.
