The ASNE-APME #Editors3D conference will kick off Oct. 16, less than a month from today, at Stanford University. Register soon if you haven't. We would love to see you attend; engage in our cutting-edge sessions on diversity, digital and disruption; and interact with fellow decision-makers in journalism!

The ASNE-APME #Editors3D conference will kick off Oct. 16, less than a month from today, at Stanford University. Register soon if you haven't. We would love to see you attend; engage in our cutting-edge sessions on diversity, digital and disruption; and interact with fellow decision-makers in journalism!  

Some highlights of the conference:

Opening reception at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16
  • This evening reception at the Frances C. Arrillaga Alumni Center will open the conference. There will be California wine and music and a keynote speech by David Kelley, a creator of the Apple mouse and founder of the groundbreaking d.school at Stanford. Kelley will share his thoughts on how each of us can find joy in our creative endeavors.
  • The silent and live auction will take place at the opening reception at the alumni center. Various items will be featured, such as sports tickets, vacation retreats, jewelry, autographed books and much more. Willing to donate auction items or bid for some items online? Click here for details.

Conference sessions Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 17-18
  • Conference sessions will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, and conclude at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, at the Li Ka Shing Learning and Knowledge Center, part of the Stanford Medical School.

One-on-one coaching sessions Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 17-18
  • Jill Geisler, Bill Plante Chair in Leadership and Media Integrity at Loyola University Chicago, and Butch Ward, a senior faculty member at The Poynter Institute, will be available to meet with editors and other news leaders from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 17. Ward will also be available during the same hours on Sunday, Oct. 18. There is no charge for the 30-minute sessions for ASNE and APME members. Email Sally Jacobsen at sjacobsen@ap.org to sign up for the sessions.

Awards lunch Saturday, Oct. 17
  • Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Alex Tizon, author of "Big Little Man: In Search of My Asian Self," will give a keynote on the relationship between personal narrative and journalism. Followed by the keynote will be our celebration of the winners of the ASNE Awards and APME Journalism Excellence Awards. Buy lunch tickets here

"Following the money in 2016" session Sunday, Oct. 18
  • Leaders of The Associated Press will review the state of play in campaign finance and offer strategies to help follow the money all the way to Election Day.  

Keynote lunch Sunday, Oct. 18
  • How do you build an airplane while flying it? Editors across the country are trying to do just that as they work to transform their newsrooms and find new audiences while continuing to serve loyal readers of their legacy products. S. Mitra Kalita, managing editor for editorial strategy at the Los Angeles Times, will share some front-line insights.

Our secured block of hotel rooms at the Sheraton Palo Alto expired. However, we have a very limited number of reserved rooms for only Friday and Saturday nights. Please contact ASNE Finance Director Cindy Roe at croe@asne.org if you're attending the conference and need to book your room for Friday and/or Saturday
