We're looking for 16 mid-level editors and news directors around the country for the Minority Leadership Institute at NAHJ/RTDNA/SPJ prior to the Excellence in Journalism conference. Apply by Friday, Aug. 21 for this free leadership and management training on goal-setting, strategies, leadership style, driving diversity, and technology and innovation.
Read this article by All Digitocracy that features last year's institute participant Cara Owsley, visual journalist/photojournalist at the Cincinnati Sun, who shares what she learned from the institute. She said the training helped her become more vocal in addressing issues involved with covering minority events that often become overlooked.

At NAHJ/RTDNA/SPJ: Sept. 17-18 before the Excellence in Journalism conference in Orlando. Participants will be responsible for making their own travel arrangements. One night of lodging and up to $350 for travel will be reimbursed with valid receipts. Some meals during the training will be provided. Apply by Aug. 21 by email to asne@asne.org with the subject line "ASNE Minority Leadership Institute application-NAHJ/RTDNA/SPJ," and include the following:

A 300-word essay describing the leadership role you play in your organization, including day-to-day managerial duties and why you would benefit from the institute

A nomination letter from your supervisor (You must be employed by a news or media organization to be considered.)

At ASNE-APME: Oct. 15-16 before the ASNE-APME conference in Palo Alto, California. Arrangements will be made for travel and two nights of lodging, and some meals during the training will be provided. Apply by Aug. 28 by email to asne@asne.org with the subject line "ASNE Minority Leadership Institute application-ASNE-APME," and include the following:
