Get your senator on board for FOIA Improvement Act of 2014

One last bit of summer, one last bite at the FOIA Reform apple. As we've noted earlier, we hope that the Senate Judiciary Committee will take up S 2520the FOIA Improvement Act, now that senators have returned to work from their August recess.

This means you have one last good shot to weigh in with your senator this week. This is especially important if your senator is a member of the Judiciary Committee or part of Senate leadership, which, if the Judiciary Committee approves S 2520, will have to decide whether to commit valuable floor time before Congress recesses again in advance of the mid-term elections.

In addition to those background materials we've already made available to you, we're happy to provide some information created by the Sunshine in Government Initiative ("SGI"). ASNE is one of the nine members of SGI, and ASNE Legal Counsel Kevin M. Goldberg has joined representatives of other SGI organizations in meetings with House and Senate staff regarding FOIA reform. As always, you can call 703-812-0462 or email goldberg@fhhlaw.com Kevin if you have any questions.
