As the ASNE-APME conference in Chicago is only a few weeks away, we'd like to continue our introductions to some of our generous sponsors. Meet the John S. Knight Journalism Fellowships at Stanford

The John S. Knight Journalism Fellowships program serves the needs of journalism in an ever-changing media environment by fostering innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership. Knight Fellows spend a year leveraging the resources of Stanford University and Silicon Valley to broaden their skills and perspectives while developing their own proposals to benefit journalism and journalists. The new deadline for U.S. applications is Dec. 1.

The current class of Stanford Knight Fellows includes journalists from The Boston Globe, The New York Times, The Virginian-Pilot, The Washington Post, The (Santa Rosa) Press Democrat and The Wall Street Journal.

Journalism challenges that the fellows will be tackling include strategies for transforming newsrooms with print roots into digital-first operations; a model for newspapers to produce engaging, profitable afternoon tablet publications with exclusive content; and development of applications that can search across social media to help journalists find and verify sources during breaking news.

Knight Fellowships Director Jim Bettinger will be attending ASNE-APME 2014. If you'd like to learn more about the program, text him at 650-255-2877, or email
