Sunshine Week off to a sunny start!

 
Happy Sunshine Week to everyone! As you know, Sunshine Week 2014 kicked off Sunday, and it will be on until Saturday, March 22. Join ASNE, the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press and many other organizations in celebrating the positive impact of open government and access to public information.

As you know, Sunshine Week 2014 kicked off Sunday, and it will be on until Saturday, March 22. Join ASNE, the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press and many other organizations in celebrating the positive impact of open government and access to public information.  

 

In case you missed it, the 16th annual National Freedom of Information Day was held successfully on Friday at the Newseum's Knight Conference Center in Washington, D.C. The day featured panel discussions and speakers, including a look at media leaks past and present. With live coverage, the event drew a lot of attentions on social media. 

 

Check out the events calendar at sunshineweek.org for a list of more than 20 events planned for this week around the country, and feel free to attend as many of them as you'd like. Here's what's happening just on Tuesday, March 18:

All groups and individuals are welcome to participate and use the resources provided on the Sunshine Week website to mark their open-government efforts. Feel free to use editorial cartoons, opinion columns and other resources in the  "Toolkit" section.  

 

Launched in 2005 and partnered with the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press in 2012, Sunshine Week is a national initiative to promote a dialogue about the importance of open government and freedom of information.
