ASNE 2013 Board Candidates Announced

The ASNE nominating committee recently selected 11 candidates to run for seven seats -- five three-year terms and two two-year terms -- on the ASNE Board of Directors. The candidates' bios and statements will be posted on the ASNE website next week, and the election will close on Tuesday, June 25, during the ASNE convention in Washington D.C.

The candidates: 
 
  • Tim Archuleta, Editor  of the San Angelo (Texas) Standard-Times

  • Jim Brady, Editor-in-Chief of Digital First Media

  • Lucy Dalglish, Dean of the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland

  • Anders Gyllenhaal, VP of news/Washington Editor at McClatchy
     
  • Mark Katches, Editorial director for The Center for Investigative Reporting
     
  • Karen Magnuson, Editor & Vice President/News, Democrat and Chronicle, Rochester, N.Y.
     
  • Dori Maynard, President, Maynard Institute
     
  • Michael Oreskes, Vice President and Senior Managing Editor of The Associated Press
     
  • Emily Ramshaw, Editor of The Texas Tribune
     
  • Melanie Sill, Executive Editor at Southern California Public Radio
     
  • Robyn Tomlin, Editor of Digital First Media's Project Thunderdome
     

Gyllenhaal, Oreskes and Sill are incumbents running for their second terms on the board.
 
Remember, you must be a member to vote, and you can only vote for seven of the candidates. 
 
The candidates' bios and statements can be found on the ASNE website. The electronic polls will close at midnight on Friday, June 21. Members who do not vote online can vote in person at ASNE's annual convention, which will be held June 24-26 in Washington, D.C.
 
The election will close at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, and the winners will be announced that evening.
