Three reasons why you should attend the ASNE Convention

There are a lot of good reasons to register for the ASNE Convention June 24-26 at the Capital Hilton in Washington, D.C., but here are three to get you started:

1. We announced Wednesday that Sen. Marco Rubio will be joining our growing list of speakers. He will address us at lunch on Tuesday, June 25. Rubio -- often mentioned as a potential presidential contender in 2016 -- is the leading Senate Republican in an attempt to modernize the nation's immigration laws for the first time in a generation, providing an eventual path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants currently in the United States. Twitter CEO Dick Costolo is speaking to us at lunch on Wednesday. Make sure to purchase lunch tickets to reserve your seats!

2. In an effort to be timely, we are "editing" some of our panels and speakers -- and putting the finishing touches on some new panels. One that's particularly notable: The Government vs. the Press. The long-running struggle for press freedom and access has taken a dramatic turn this year with the government prosecution of a series of leak cases. We'll hear from Kathleen Carroll, executive editor of the Associated Press; James Rosen, chief Washington correspondent for Fox News and host of the online program "Foxhole;" and Thomas Drake, the senior National Security Agency employee turned whistle-blower whose prosecution under the Espionage Act collapsed in 2011.

3. The Capital Hilton graciously extended our deadline for hotel reservations because of the long Memorial Day weekend -- and because we are filling up! Reserve your room by Thursday, June 6, for a special rate of only $239/night. We've also extended our early bird registration discount -- register for the convention by June 6 and save up to $100.

Check out a revised convention schedule here. See you there!
