Mark your calendar! We are heading to Washington, D.C., Oct. 8-11, 2017, for the fourth annual ASNE-APME News Leadership Conference.
The Associated Press Photo Managers will once again join us.
Plan early to spend a few days next fall in the nation's capital. We'll kick off with an evening reception Sunday, Oct. 8, and continue until late-morning Wednesday, Oct. 11.
The 2017 ASNE-APME conference will immediately follow the Online News Association conference, scheduled for Oct. 5-7, also at the Marriott Wardman Park hotel.

Groups to White House: We will continue to fight for government transparency

SPJ and other journalism and government accountability groups have contacted the White House multiple times over the past several years, asking the Obama administration to stop practices in federal agencies that obscure transparency and prevent important information from getting to the public. In the last letter, from August 2015, more than 50 organizations signed on to a letter at SPJ’s request.

The 2016 ASNE-APME News Leadership Conference kicks off today! Here are some things you need to know.
Getting from the airport to the hotel
The Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, at 1201 Market St., Philadelphia, PA 19107, is located about 10 miles away from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). The hotel does not provide shuttle service, but you can take a train, grab a taxi or drive.
Train
From your terminal (A, B, C/D or E/F), take the Airport Regional Rail Line to Jefferson Station. Trains run every 30 minutes and operate from 5:07 to 12:30 a.m. (airport to city) and 4:20 a.m. to 11:40 p.m. (city to airport).
Taxi

ASNE releases 2016 Diversity Survey results

Columbia, Mo. (Sept.9, 2016) -- Minority journalists comprised 17 percent of the workforce in newsrooms that responded to this year's ASNE Diversity Survey.
The annual survey also found that 28 percent of the news organizations reported having at least one minority journalist among their top three editors and 77 percent reported having at least one woman in a top-three position.
The results summarize responses from 737 news organizations, including 646 newspapers and 91 digital-only news sites.
