1 For All is a national campaign to reaise people's awareness about the five freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment: religion, speech, press, assembly and petition.
1 For All has resources for news organizations to help their audiences understand their First Amendment freedoms. It also is administering the First Amendment Challenge, which promotes innovative teaching of the First Amendment in classrooms across the country.

ASNE endorses better protections for journalists in digital age

ASNE, among dozens of journalism organizations, signed the Committee to Protect Journalists' "Right to Report" petition to President Obama to seek better protections for journalists in the digital age.
ASNE members and the companies and organizations they work for are invited to sign the petition and publicize their participation via their pages, websites and social media, including the use of the hashtag #righttoreport.

Hacking News Leadership: Part 2 on Dec. 6-7 at Poynter will bring together, once again, people who do the hiring, budgeting and strategizing for news organizations to work with skilled developers, designers and data specialists on the following questions:
- What should newsrooms do to fully tap the power of data and technology?
- What are some easy technology tools editors and digital gurus can share in the newsroom?
- How do editors hire and compete for a limited pool of highly skilled data journalists?
- How can news leaders and technology specialists forge a successful partnership? How can they join forces to hack the future?

ASNE opposes rules requiring permit for filmmaking, photography

ASNE was one of 18 organizations that sent a letter to National Forest Service in protest of a proposal to make rules that require a permit for filmmaking and still photography. This concerns ASNE as the NFS personnel will invoke the permit requirement on a regular basis in a manner that restricts legitimate newsgathering.

Sometimes in teams and sometimes as lonely crusaders, these reporter-coder hybrids are leveraging technology to produce new kinds of reporting and storytelling.
